Who we are:

The City of Saginaw is a growing, dynamic city, located in the northwest quadrant of Tarrant County. Our population has increased 53% since 2000, and the police department has grown to keep pace. Our current population is over 18,950, and is expected to exceed 24,000 in the next five years. This means added chance for seniority and promotion for officers who come on board now.

The Saginaw Police Department is currently authorized 40 sworn positions. We have two divisions – Operations and Support Services. Opportunities exist to work in patrol, criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, community services, school resources, field training, and bike patrol for energetic, enthusiastic officers.

What we are looking for:

During recruiting periods, the Saginaw Police Department looks for applicants who fit the following standards:

- be at least twenty-one years of age;

- have completed a basic Texas Peace Officer course by the date of appointment;

- be able to pass an extensive background investigation.

The Hiring Process:

Completing an application starts the hiring process. Applicants then must complete a personal history statement (PHS). Although quite extensive, the PHS saves both the applicant and background investigator time in the long run, for nearly all our questions are answered up front. After a review of the PHS, applicants may be chosen for an oral board made up of line personnel from the department. After that, all that’s normally required is a physical assessment at a local hospital, and a psychological exam for those who have not been peace officers within the last 180 days.

Employment applications are only accepted during specific recruitment times. The rest of the year we accept Job Interest Cards, which can be found HERE. If you complete an interest card, you will be notified by mail prior to our next police officer exam.
