Commendations/Complaints

The Saginaw Police Department is committed to providing exemplary customer service in a professional manner that ensures all citizens and visitors a safe and secure environment.  Without feedback from the community, we don’t always know whether you’re satisfied with the services we deliver.  This is your venue to provide feedback to your police department and let us know how we are doing.

Commendations help the agency gauge overall customer satisfaction with our performance.  We encourage you to share your opinions regarding Saginaw Police Department employees and the services provided to you.  Commendations may be done in person, by mail, by e-mail or by phone; please use the method that is most convenient for you.  Positive comments are shared with the employee, and often placed in their personnel file.

“State law requires that formal complaints against a police officer be in writing and contain a signature of the complainant”.  Your first step in complaining against an employee should be to contact the officer’s supervisor.  A field supervisor is on-duty 24 hours-a-day, and is available to take your complaint.

Filing a false complaint against a police employee is a violation of the Texas Penal Code, Section 37.02.  If a person knowingly and intentionally makes a false statement under oath, or swears to the truth of a false statement previously made under oath, a person may be found guilty and punished by a fine up to $4,000, confinement in jail up to one year, or by both fine and imprisonment.
